Fall into 3rd Grade!

Do you like fall? The third graders in Miss Trickett’s class brainstormed a list of all of the fall words they could possibly think of. Then they selected their own word, wrote a poem about fall, and designed their own leaf dude or dudette to start the season in style! Enjoy the beautiful fall color as well as these third grade poems!

“Dress-Up” a Pumpkin Book Character Project

Purpose:  Bring a children’s book character to life.

Project:  Students will choose a character from one of their favorite books and decorate a pumpkin to resemble that character.  We ask that a copy of the book also be sent to school with the pumpkin character.  The book can be brought from home or checked out from the library.  During the week of conferences, we will display your child’s pumpkin with his or her book!  This will be a fun family project and an opportunity to spend time together having fun!  Let your creativity fly! J

Possible Supplies:  Small to medium-sized pumpkin, paint, construction paper, glue, wrapping paper, fabric, etc.  Please remember that you are decorating your pumpkin, not carving it.

It's fun to learn like a Fisher CAT!

Fisher third grade sings: “It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat”

Fisher Elementary students had their first assembly of the school year Thursday (Sept. 29), which featured a special performance by third grade.
The students wore hard hats as a nod to the ongoing construction project at the school, then sang a song about Fisher Elementary to the tune of The Village People’s “YMCA”. The lyrics embodied the school’s expectations for behavior.

Fisher CAT (YMCA) Theme Song
Fisher, there’s no need to feel down
We said, Fisher, pick yourself off the ground.
We said, Fisher, ‘cause you’re in Marshalltown;
There’s no need to be unhappy!

Fisher, there’s a place you can go,
We said, Fisher, when your knowledge is low
You can stay here and I’m sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!
It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!

We have everything that you need to enjoy
You can hang with most teachers oh boy!

It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!
It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!

You can get ready to learn
You can always be safe

Re-spon-si-ble; re-spect-ful.
Fisher, are you listening to me?

We said, Fisher, what do you want to be?
We said, Fisher, you can make real your dreams;
But you’ve got to know this one thing.
No one does it all all be himself,

We said, Fisher, put your pride on the shelf.
And just go there like the C-A-T-S!(actions)
Teachers can help you with that.

It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!
It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!

They have every-thing that you need to enjoy
You can hang out with most teachers; oh boy!

It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!
It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!

You can get ready to learn
You can always be safe
Re-spon-si-ble; re-spect-ful.

Fisher, we all do our best
We said, Fisher, hard work is the test.
We can learn here; each and every—day
To-get-her we can go all the way!

That’s when someone came up to me
And said, students, who do you want to be?

There’s a place here where learning is grand
Come along with us to make a huge stand

It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!
It’s fun to learn like a cool Fisher Cat!

They have every-thing that you need to enjoy
You can hang out with most teachers; oh boy!

C-A-T-S ( body actions & movement)
It’s fun to learn like cool C-A-T-S (actions)

Fisher, there’s no need to feel down.
Fisher, pick yourself off the ground!

C-A-T-S (actions)
Then just be cool C-A-T-S (actions)
Fisher, we have all gone to school
Fisher, we said, follow the golden rule
C-A-T-S
